ZOOM Teeth Whitening Calgary
ZOOM Whitening is a cosmetic treatment done to help whiten teeth from everyday stains. It is hard to say how white your teeth will get as every patient is different, but in most cases, you will see a significant difference.
At Expressions Dental™ Clinic the process takes about an hour. Each session is 15 minutes where the whitening gel is removed and replaced. You are charged $349 for the treatment. There are total of 3-4 sessions. A UV light is placed over the gel which keeps it warm. A mouth prop is placed in the mouth to help keep the mouth open and the gums are covered with a material to help protect them from the gel as it can cause irritation when in direct contact. After the procedure, everything is removed and trays with fluoride relief gel are placed to help with any sensitivity or remineralisation of the teeth. Just like regular fluoride, patients will avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes.
If you are someone who already has sensitive teeth, ZOOM treatment may not be advised as it can cause some sensitivity during and after the procedure. Taking Advil before and after treatment can help reduce that. Foods to avoid after treatment are things that would stain a white shirt. Coffee, tea, red wine, berries, sauces, etc. These should be avoided for at least 72 hours as the tubules of the teeth are open and dehydrated letting the stain be absorbed much easier than usual. Patients who have crowns or fillings on their front teeth should also be aware that those materials will not whiten. They will need to be replaced after treatment if the color difference is quite noticeable. The result lasting also depend on the patient and their diet. Ways to reduce staining are drinking coffee and tea through a straw and regular brushing and flossing. Stains are inevitable, but ZOOM treatment is a way to help brighten your smile.
